How can I search "Other" loan types in the RETR platform?

Using search filters to find LOs with high "Other" loan type volume

The "Other" loan type that appears on a Loan Officer's profile includes Non-QM loans, USDA loans, multiparcel loans, construction loans, and all other loan types outside of the standard FHA, VA, and Conv loan types. While there currently isn't an "Other" filter in the LO search results just yet, there is a way you can search for this information in the RETR platform.

As an FYI, we are hoping to expand on the "Other" category in RETR with more specific categorization and filter options in the future, so stay tuned for that!

To find loan officers who specialize in "Other" loan types, you'll first want to perform a standard loan officer search, selecting the sales area of your choice and stopping once you have search results brought up. (For a walkthrough on getting a basic sales area search done, see this article: How do I search for loan officers & add them to a list?

Once you have a basic sales area search, use the "Products" filter to set a 5% maximum percentage for any of the standard loan types (like conventional)

When your results load, focus on the loan officers that display a high loan count, but low totals for the specific loan types (con, VA, FHA). This will indicate that most of their work likely falls in the other category. From here, you can add these LOs to lists and export as needed, as you would for any loan officer search.

More information on exporting can be found here: How do I export a list?

More information on the LO Recruit add-on, which is needed to export loan officer lists, can be found here: What is the LO Recruit Add-on?

Finding "other" loan types by Company

To find companies that handle a majority of "Other" loan types instead of Loan Officers, you'll first want to perform a standard mortgage company search, selecting the sales area of your choice and stopping once you have search results brought up. (For a walkthrough on getting a basic sales area search done, click here: How do I search for mortgage companies/brokerages?

Once you have a basic sales area search, use the "Products" filter to set the lowest minimum possible for any of the standard loan types (like conventional), and then use the "Loans" filter to set a high "units" amount.

When your results load, use the column for the loan type you filtered for (conventional), and click on the column to sort from lowest to highest. Then, pay attention to any companies that have low stats for the specific loan types, but high unit counts. This will indicate that most of their work likely falls in the other category.

From here, you can use the checkbox to select any of these companies you want to export, or access their company profiles further by clicking on them.
